Sean Avery got arrested before his wedding.

Sean Avery is a former New York Rangers hockey star. He was detained on September 30, 2015, in Southampton Village, just ten days before his wedding to Hilary Rhoda.

Avery was accused of criminal mischief and two counts of illegal possession of a controlled substance in 2015.

Authorities claim that the accusations of criminal mischief are connected to an incident on September 29 when Avery was seen throwing objects at moving cars. The next day, after speaking with several drivers who had been involved in similar incidents, police detained the athlete.

Two additional counts were added when acetaminophen and oxycodone, two prescription drugs, were discovered on Avery during his arrest.

After posting $500 in bond, he was processed and released, and his next court appearance is scheduled for October 26 at Southampton Village Justice Court.

Edward Burke Jr., Avery's attorney, told E! News that he and his client "look forward" to defending against the criminal damage allegations in court.

Burke continued:

"Mr. Avery has prescriptions for the medications that were the subject of this charge. As for the criminal possession charges."
Avery also posted a picture of his drug scripts on Twitter. It's pretty disgusting that I even have to do this, but sadly, it's the same old tale, he wrote. Enjoy yourself with this one.

The retired NHL player and Rhoda rescheduled to get married on Saturday.

The pair spoke with Hamptons magazine in June about their decision to get married in the Hamptons.

"We have a house out here. "Every summer and a good portion of the rest of the year, we've been spending a lot of time here. We had considered doing it somewhere, but this is so much more intimate and also a little bit simpler than some far-off island."
