Bobby Orr's NHL career

Bobby Orr participated in a youth hockey tournament in 1961, and he caught the attention of the Boston Bruins. In the 1962-63 season, he made his Metro Junior A League debut for the Oshawa Generals, the Bruins' junior hockey affiliate. His play improved over the next two seasons, and he had a fantastic season in 1965-66, scoring 38 goals and finishing with 94 points.

During the 1966-67 season, Orr made his professional debut with the Bruins. He received the Calder Memorial Trophy after being named the league's outstanding rookie.

Bobby Orr could only play 46 games in the 1967-68 season due to injuries ranging from a collarbone fracture to a shoulder separation. Despite his injuries, he made the NHL's first All-Star team. Despite his limited games, he played exceptionally well, scoring his first hat-trick against Chicago and adding two assists for a five-point night.

During the 1969-1970 season, his scoring total more than doubled. He led the Bruins through the playoffs in 1970 and scored the game-winning goal that gave Boston its first Stanley Cup since 1941. He led the Bruins back to the Stanley Cup in the 1972 playoffs, scoring the game-winning goal against New York. In the 1972 NHL All-Star Game, he was named MVP.

In 1973, Orr set the record for most points by a defenseman in a game, with three goals and four assists against the New York Rangers. The following season, he broke his own record for goals in a season by a defenseman with 46 goals and 89 assists. 1975-76 was his final season with the Bruins. That season, his contract expired.

In June 1976, Bobby Orr signed with the Chicago Black Hawks. However, due to injuries, he was only able to play in 26 games for them. He left the team in 1978.
