The Montreal Canadiens lost 3-2 in overtime to the Calgary Flames on Tuesday. Fans on X (formerly Twitter) quickly voiced their displeasure at the team’s performance, particularly criticizing coach Martin St. Louis' decisions during overtime.

After Montreal's social media post about the game, fans flooded in with reactions, with many questioning the coaching decisions St. Louis made.

One fan blasted St. Louis for putting Christian Dvorak and Mike Matheson on the ice during overtime.

"WHY IS DVORAK AND MATHESON ON THE ICE IN OT WORST COACHING DECISION IVE EVER SEEN," one said.
"Worst OT lines ever!! #FireStLouis MSL sucks!!," another fan commented.

Flames' Matt Coronato secures OT win over Montreal Canadiens in the game

The Calgary Flames edged out the Montreal Canadiens in the overtime thriller. Calgary fired 36 shots on goal, while Montreal managed 23.

The Flames took the lead in the second period when Connor Zary scored a goal, with assists from Nazem Kadri and Daniil Miromanov at 4:20. Montreal leveled the score later in the period, as Brendan Gallagher found the net on a power play, assisted by Joel Armia and Oliver Kapanen at 16:23.

Montreal pulled ahead in the third period when Joel Armia scored a shorthanded goal, assisted by Jake Evans at 5:56, giving the Montreal Canadiens a 2-1 lead.

With less than three minutes remaining, Calgary’s Matt Coronato scored his third goal of the season, tying the game at 2-2. Just seven seconds into overtime, Coronato struck again, this time unassisted, securing the win for Calgary.

Matt Coronato earned the first star for his two-goal performance, including the overtime winner. Blake Coleman took the second star, thanks to his assist on Coronato’s late game-tying goal. Joel Armia, with a goal and an assist for Montreal, claimed the third star.

The game featured a lot of physical play, with both teams taking penalties. Calgary recorded 29 hits and blocked 13 shots, while the Montreal Canadiens registered 25 hits and blocked 22 shots.

Montreal dominated the face-off circle, winning 57.4% and converting one of their three power-play chances. The teams are set to clash again on March 8 at 7 p.m. EST.
