Looking at the Edmonton Oilers' seasons so far, and their schedule for the rest of October
After making it to the Stanley Cup Finals last season, before losing a seven-game series to the Florida Panthers, the Oilers entered into this season with high hopes.
Despite that, the team started off slow this season, being shut out by the Winnipeg Jets in their season opener at home before then losing two more home games. Those losses were to the Chicago Blackhawks and the Calgary Flames, respectively.
After going 0-3 to start the season, the team was able to string back-to-back wins in their next two games. They picked up a 4-3 win in overtime over the Philadelphia Flyers before then defeating the Nashville Predators later in the week.
While many fans hoped that would be the start of a long win streak, the team then dropped a road game to the Dallas Stars on Oct. 19 and a home game to the Carolina Hurricanes on Oct. 22.
In their most recent outing, the Oilers were able to pick up a big 4-0 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Friday at home. This was before kicking off a four-game road stint with tonight's game against the Red Wings which will run into the first week of November.
Following Sunday's game in Detroit, the team will travel to Ohio for the second leg of a back-to-back against the Columbus Blues. They will then close out the month with an Oct. 31 game against the Nashville Predators.
