Last season, the Philadelphia Flyers missed the playoffs for the fourth straight year, finishing the regular season with the sixth-best record in the Metropolitan Division. In response to the underwhelming year, the franchise's front office looked to make some big offseason moves to bolster their roster for the season ahead. So far, however, the team hasn't made the splash Philadelphia Flyers fans had hoped for.

After buying out Cam Atkinson and re-signing players like Travis Konecny to an eight-year extension, and Garnet Hathaway to a two-year extension, there isn't much optimism surrounding the team's chances of winning the Stanley Cup this year.

Despite that, with some intriguing prospects in their prospect pool, there's reasons to be optimistic about the team's future even if they're still a ways off from competing in the Stanley Cup Finals.

Three Philadelphia Flyers prospects to keep an eye out for in the 2024-25 season

#1: Matvei Michkov - F

The one high-point of this offseason so far has been the Flyers' signing of Matvei Michkov. Drafted as the seventh overall pick in last year's draft, Michkov wasn't expected to make the jump over to the NHL for another year or two, however, the Flyers were able to bring him to America ahead of schedule.

After an impressive season in the KHL with HC Sochi, where he logged 41 points in 47 games, the expectation is that the 19-year-old will be one of coach John Tortorella's top-six forwards in the year ahead given their current lines.

#2: Alexei Kolosov - G

22-year-old Alexei Kolosov could very well wind up being the Flyers' netminder of the future. At 22 years old, he has impressed in the KHL, posting three-straight seasons with a save percentage over 90% before making the jump to the AHL.

While he averaged an 88.5% save percentage in his first two games int he AHL last season, given that he has a career save percentage of 90.9%, and hadn't finished a season with a save percentage below 90% since the 2018-19 season while playing U18 hockey, Kolosov will certainly be one to watch this season as he looks to make waves in the AHL.

#3: Jett Luchanko - F

Drafted as the team's 13th overall pick in this year's NHL draft, there have been questions about whether or not Luchanko was selected too high in the draft, and perhaps should have been selected lower. Despite that, he appears to be an incredibly well-rounded prospect with vision and IQ beyond his years.

At just 17 years old, don't expect Luchanko to skate much, if at all, with the Philadelphia Flyers this season, however, when looking at his OHL numbers from last year it's clear why the Philadelphia Flyers were so high on the young Canadian forward.
