Looking at the Detroit Red Wings' season so far and upcoming games following tonight's clash with Toronto
After missing the playoffs for eight straight years, the Detroit Red Wings are eager to break the streak. After 12 games, they are tied for fourth place with Boston in the Atlantic Division with 13 points.
The Florida Panthers are on top of the division with a 9-3-1 record with 19 points and the Maple Leafs are not far behind with 16 points. While the Red Wings got off to a slow start, as they went just 2-3 through their first five games, they have since shown signs of getting their rhythm.
After their fifth game, the team has managed to stay above .500, going 4-3. Following tonight's game in Toronto, the Red Wings will play the second leg of a back-to-back set on Saturday at home against the New York Rangers.
They will then hit the road next week as part of a four-game stretch that will see them face the Pittsburgh Penguins, Anaheim Ducks and LA Kings, before wrapping up their road trip with a game against the San Jose Sharks on Nov. 18.
