Chris Kreider is signed to a seven-year, $45,500,000 contract with a $6,500,000 cap hit per season with the New York Rangers. His contract is set to expire after the 2026-27 season when he will become an Unrestricted Free Agent.

The Rangers recently traded Jacob Trouba and Ryan Lindgren while adding JT Miller. Rangers general manager Chris Drury suggested more changes might be coming, and shortly after, new rumors began to spread.

NHL insider Frank Seravalli said Drury is now in advanced talks with Anaheim Ducks GM Pat Verbeek. The two sides are working on a possible trade that would send Chris Kreider to the Ducks.

Seravalli posted on X/Twitter:

"Sources say #NYR and #NHLDucks are in advanced discussions on a deal that would send Chris Kreider to Orange County. No semantics: there is NO DEAL at this moment in time. But there is interest - and a framework. Both teams had other irons in the fire today. We'll see on Wed."

There is no final agreement yet, but, both teams have set up a basic trade framework. If the trade happens, it could be a big step for the Rangers, as Kreider has been an important player for the team for more than 10 years.

NY Rangers add David Quinn, Joe Sacco and Ty Hennes to coaching staff under Mike Sullivan

The New York Rangers have added David Quinn, Joe Sacco and Ty Hennes as assistant coaches. They will work under new head coach Mike Sullivan. Quinn returns to New York after coaching the Rangers from 2018 to 2021. He was recently an assistant in Pittsburgh.

Sacco spent most of last season as Boston’s interim head coach and brings experience with the penalty kill. Hennes worked with Sullivan in Pittsburgh as a skills and skating coach.

The changes come after the Rangers missed the playoffs this season. They started strong but struggled badly from late November to December. They also traded key players like Jacob Trouba and Kaapo Kakko during the season, and their powerplay dropped from third in the league last year to near the bottom this year.

Still, there are reasons for hope. Igor Shesterkin remains one of the best goalies in the league, while young players like Will Cuylle and Brennan Othmann gained valuable experience.
