New York is expected to be one of the best teams in the NHL this season, so any prospect making their lineup will be tough. However, the Rangers do have some on the doorstep of making an impact in the NHL.

Top 5 New York Rangers prospects to watch out for

#1. Brennan Othmann

Brennan Othmann is one of the New York Rangers' top prospects and he made his NHL debut during the 2023-24 NHL season.

Othmann was drafted 16th overall in the 2021 NHL draft, and last season, he skated in three games but did not record a point.

In the AHL last season, he had 21 goals and 28 assists for 49 points in 67 games. Othmann is someone who could crack the Rangers lineup on opening night, or be used a trade chip for a proven NHL player.

#2. Brett Berard

Brett Berard was drafted in the fifth round in the 2020 NHL draft, but he has already exceeded his draft position and is now closing in on making his NHL debut.

The winger played in the AHL and recorded 25 goals and 23 assists for 48 points in 71 games. At age 21, turning 22 in early September, Berard could be a mid-season call-up if someone gets hurt.

#3. Gabe Perreault

Gabe Perreault decided to return to Boston College for his sophomore season but could be making his NHL debut later this year.

Perreault should sign his NHL contract at the end of the college season so he can play in the last couple of games and be an impact player for the Rangers.

The right winger was drafted 23rd overall in the 2023 NHL draft.

#4. Adam Sykora

Adam Sykora is just 19 but he already had a full season in the AHL.

Sykora was drafted in the second round of the 2022 NHL draft and he decided to leave Slovakia to go to the AHL. Sykora recorded eight goals and 15 assists for 23 points last season.

Sykora likely is a couple of years away from making the NHL, but if needed he could help out in the bottom six.

#5. Dylan Garand

The New York Rangers have Igor Shesterkin as their starting goalie who is one of the best goalies in the NHL, but Dylan Garand is in the pipeline.

Garand is 22 and had a ton of success in the AHL last season, especially in the playoffs as he had a 2.59 GAA and a .922 SV%.

The Rangers do have Shesterkin and Jonathan Quick as their goalies, but if any of them get hurt, Garand would be called up and will likely be the New York Rangers' backup two years from now.
