When New Jersey Devils' Martin Brodeur had to pay his ex-wife $500,000 a year alimony

Martin Brodeur's NHL career

Martin Brodeur had an outstanding career in the NHL spanning over two decades. He is widely considered one of the greatest goaltenders in NHL history.

Brodeur was drafted by the New Jersey Devils in the first round of the 1990 NHL Entry Draft. He made his NHL debut in 1992 and quickly established himself as one of the league's top goaltenders. He played his entire career with the Devils, winning three Stanley Cup championships in 1995, 2000, and 2003.

Over the course of his career, Brodeur set numerous NHL records, including the most career wins by a goaltender (691), the most career shutouts by a goaltender (125), and the most career minutes played by a goaltender (74,439). He was also a four-time Vezina Trophy winner as the NHL's top goaltender and was named to the NHL All-Star team 10 times.

In addition to his success in the NHL, Martin Brodeur also represented Canada in international play, winning gold medals at the 2002 and 2010 Winter Olympics.

Martin Brodeur retired from professional hockey in 2015 and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame later that year. He currently works in management for the New Jersey Devils organization.
