
Laila Edwards is an ice hockey player for the University of Wisconsin and is a member of the women's national ice hockey team of the United States. She led the United States to silver with eight points and was voted MVP of the 2022 IIHF Under-18 Women's World Championship. The 2022–23 season marked Edwards' collegiate debut for Wisconsin. She scored 27 points on 13 goals and 14 assists in her first season, playing in all 41 games for the National Championship squad. Edwards served as an alternate captain for the United States during the 2022 IIHF World Women's U18 Championship. With four goals and four assists in five games, she won a silver medal and led the team in scoring. She was selected as the tournament's top forward, most valuable player, and All-Tournament team after the competition. She became the first Black woman to represent the United States at the IIHF World Women's Championship when she was added to the American squad for the 2024 tournament on March 31, 2024.
