Belmont Stakes 2025: All the horses running in the race, their trainers and nation

The Belmont Stakes 2025 is the final part of the Triple Crown, which is a series for 3-year-olds, including the Kentucky Derby, the Preakness Stakes, and the Belmont. The first two were held on May 3 and May 17, 2025, respectively, and now the final one is all set to take place on June 7 at the Saratoga Race Course.

This race was established in 1867, and this year will mark its 157th iteration, which will witness the event being 11/4 miles long instead of the traditional 11/2 miles, making it the same length as Kentucky. This change has been executed this year because the event will temporarily take place at Saratoga Race Course rather than Long Island's Belmont Park, as the latter is currently undergoing a massive redevelopment project.

Multiple favorites, including Journalism, who has only been defeated once in 2025, at the Kentucky Derby, will compete at the Belmont Stakes. It has nabbed victories in other major events, including the Preakness Stakes and Santa Anita Derby. Along with it, another favorite and a strong contender is Sovereignty, who won the Kentucky Derby title; however, it skipped the Preakness, which was held at Baltimore's Pimlico Race Course.

1. Hill Road

Belonging to the USA, Hill Road is trained by Chad Brown, and its jockey is Irad Ortiz Jr. The horse started his racing career in Ireland and is currently in Brown's New York barn. It won the Peter Pan Stakes at Aqueduct last month and earned a third-place finish in the Tampa Bay Derby in March. Its odds for the upcoming race are 14/1.

2. Sovereignty

Sovereignty, who belongs to the US, is trained by Bill Mott, and its jockey is Junior Alvarade.
