Belmont Stakes 2025 payouts: How much did Sovereignty's owners earn?

The 2025 Belmont Stakes was held on Saturday, June 7, at the Saratoga Race Course in Saratoga Springs, New York. The 2025 edition of the race marked its 157th edition and featured a lucrative prize purse of $2 million, which was increased from $1.5 million.

The Saratoga Race Course held the event for the second time since last year after the construction at Belmont Park. The race is expected to return to its signature venue in 2026. Sovereignty continued his winning streak in the Kentucky Derby at the 157th edition of the final leg of the Triple Crown on Saturday. Sovereignty surpassed the Preakness Stakes champion Journalism to win the Test of Champions. The event at the Saratoga Race Course covered a distance of 1 1/4 miles.

Journalism entered as the fan's favorite to lead the race with 2-1 odds. He dominated the quarter mile left. However, Sovereignty, with 5-2 odds, overtook in the final stretch of the race. Sovereignty's trainer, Bill Mott, won the race for the second time as a trainer after deciding to pull out the horse from the Preakness Stakes, citing that he saved the former for a big win.

Sovereignty victory paid $7.00 to win, $3.20 to place, and $2.30 to show on a $2 bet. The Belmont Stakes payout is handed over to winning horses as well as the bettors who placed precise wagers. The basic payout after the 2025 Belmont Stakes is as follows:
