Final X will determine the wrestlers representing Team USA at the 2025 United World Wrestling Championships. One of the most anticipated matches to be held in the competition is between Carr and Mesenbrik, who will be locking horns in the 74kg category.

With a few days left for Final X, Burroughs shared his opinion about the matchup between Carr and Mesenbrik. He opened up about the latter's skills on the mat, praising him for wrestling in pressurizing conditions. Calling him relentless, he said:

"Mitch Mes is good, bro. He's good, he's relentless, and he's got three really good shots. He's got a lefty collar inside knee pick or knee pull single. He's got a lefty collar release lefty sweep single and then he's got lefty or then he's got from the open. He's got this misdirection, and he's surprisingly tricky with the wind, Dixie, when a guy gets to his leg. He's got like a supernatural gas tank, seriously. There's very few people who are willing to push through that threshold of pain and continue to keep wrestling," said Jordan Burroughs.

David Carr and Mitchell Mesenbrink will be squaring off against each other for the third time. They competed for the first time during the 2024 NCAA finals in the 165-pound division, where Carr won the match, and shortly after this, they contended against each other in April in the US Open finals, where Mesenbrink nabbed the title.

Jordan Burroughs opened up about his thoughts on retiring from wrestling

Jordan Burroughs mentioned his retirement for the first time in an interview with Flo Wrestling in 2022, where he revealed that he will step down from professional wrestling after competing at the Paris Olympics. However, he fell short of booking his berth in Paris after losing to Jason Nolf at the Trials and then competed in the World Wrestling Championships 2024.

Following this match, Burroughs hasn't been seen on the mat, and recently opened up about his retirement in a conversation with Flo Wrestling's Radio Live. He revealed that he spoke to his family about the decision, saying:

"This has been the first year when I really got the chance to say hold on pause. I need to make the conscious decision of whether I want to do this or not, and kind of sit back and get things in order. I have a big family, I have five little ones at home. So, me being on the road and me training daily is not always conducive to them to having a present father," Jordan Burroughs said.

He added:

"After a lot of deliberation, sitting down with my family and talking about it, I wanted to make an announcement that I have decided to no longer eat red meat (laughs). I'm messing with you. I'm not retired."

Jordan Burroughs will next be seen on the broadcast team of the Final X, as he will be commentating on the event alongside women's freestyle star Victoria Anthony.
