Mikaela Shiffrin recently shared a statement, giving an update about her and her fiance Aleksander Kilde's marriage. The skier has put an end to the speculations about her wedding, days after getting engaged.
In January, Kilde sustained major injuries after a brutal crash in Switzerland, and Shiffrin played a key role during his time recovering. However, three months after this incident, the couple announced their engagement on Instagram by sharing a joint post, which carried a carousel of pictures. Here, they both struck cute poses with each other, and Shiffrin flaunted her golden-colored engagement ring.
Days after this announcement, Shiffrin put an end to the speculations about them getting married. She recently appeared in an interview with EurosportDE, where she was asked multiple questions about her personal and professional life. One of the questions among them was about her marriage plans with Kilde, to which she revealed that they were not thinking about it currently.
"We don't have plans yet, probably after the Olympics sometime."
The couple met each other during an FIS Alpine Ski World Cup. Kilde made the first move which Shiffrin initially rejected. However, after Shiffrin started skiing following her father's death, she received a heartfelt message from Aleksander. This time, they did not stop talking, eventually getting into a beautiful relationship.
Mikaela Shiffrin praised her fiance Aleksander Kilde for his strength despite facing a brutal crash
Aleksander Kilde faced an unfortunate crash while competing in a downhill race in Wengen in January, where he dislocated his shoulder and sustained a cut on his calf. He was airlifted to the hospital from the location, and Mikaela Shiffrin was always there beside him as his support system.
She recently lauded him for keeping a positive mindset despite facing such serious health issues in an interview with Olympics.com. She spoke about his constant kindness in such difficult situations and admitted that his attitude made it easier for her to take care of him.
"He’s an incredible person. When he wakes up from surgery and he's sick from the medication, and he has every reason to be angry and mean, he's still nice and he's still kind, and he's still thankful to everybody around him," said Mikaela Shiffrin. "His attitude and who he is, it made it easier to take care of him, for the people around him. And I think it gave all of us hope that things are going to be okay.”
Mikaela Shiffrin and Aleksander Kilde made their relationship official on social media by sharing a selfie of them in May 2021.
