"Right on par"- Justin Gatlin assesses Shericka Jackson’s 2025 season form

The retired track icon, Justin Gatlin, has expressed his thoughts on the acclaimed Jamaican sprinter, Shericka Jackson. The USA's five-time Olympic medalist shared his praise for Jackson's form in the 2025 season.

Jackson participated in her first 100m race event at the 2025 Rabat Diamond League and clinched the top spot with 11.04 seconds. In the 200m at the 2025 Racers Grand Prix in Kingston, Jamaica, the elite sprinter took the first position and clocked the race in 22.53, registering her season best at the National Stadium.

In the recent episode of Justin Gatlin's podcast, 'Ready Set Go' with former Bahamian sprinter, Rodney Green, he shared his thoughts on one of the greatest Jamaican sprinters of all time, Shericka Jackson. He expressed, while assessing Jackson's form for the 2025 season:

"We're used to watching Shericka [Jackson] run amazing times and do amazing things on the track from the 100 and the 200.... I think Shericka is right on par to be one of the top dogs for the 200 as she gets ready for the nationals."

He continued:

"As a veteran you have to be able to know how to land the plane and what I mean by landing the plane is know when to peak at the right time and not use all your energy trying to show everybody and prove everybody that you're ready to run, be ready to run on the day that counts the most and that means make the team. That means go out there, get on that podium, the world championships and then that's a successful season."

Along with her Olympic feats, Shericka Jackson holds four gold medals, four silver medals, and three bronze medals in the World Championships.

The elite athlete made her first track appearance this year at the 2025 Queen's/Grace Jackson Track and Field Meet. She participated in the 60m race event and secured the second position.

Then, the Saint Ann, Jamaica native participated in the 2025 Miramar Invitational, a track event held on April 5, 2025, in Florida, USA. In the 300m race event, she clinched the second position behind two-time Olympic medalist, Julian Alfred. Through her Instagram post, Jackson shared her thoughts on the event. She mentioned:

"🤍🏃🏾‍♀️"

The four-time World Athletics Relays medalist captured the first spot for her team in the Women's 4x100 Metres Relay, an exhibition race event at the meet.
