Riley Gaines and Simone Biles continue to clash on social media over the inclusion of transgender women in women's sports. Gaines has been a firm advocate against the inclusion of trans women in women's sports, a stance that Biles recently slammed her for.
Since then, Gaines has shared a number of social media posts criticizing Biles. The former swimmer reacted to one of Biles' old tweets in 2017, where the gymnast had written:
"ahhhh good thing guys don't compete against girls or he'd take all the gold medals!!"
Gaines quoted this tweet, and wrote:
"Oop don’t you hate it when your past self completely undermines your current nonsensical argument? How has 2025 Simone reconciled with the fact 2017 Simone was a 'truly sick bully' by her own standard?"
This comes after Simone Biles called Gaines "truly sick" for campaigning against transgender athletes after her loss to Lia Thomas, which Gaines referenced in the above tweet.
Riley Gaines is a former collegiate swimmer who represented the University of Kentucky. She gained attention after she tied for fifth place with Thomas, a transgender woman, at the 2022 NCAA Championships. The NCAA decided to award Thomas the fifth-place trophy for the initial ceremony, and gave Gaines the sixth place trophy. Since then, Gaines has been campaigning against the inclusion of transgender women in women's sports.
Riley Gaines calls Simone Biles a 'male apologist' after gymnast tells her to 'bully someone your own size'

Riley Gaines shared her reaction to Simone Biles' message online where she told the former swimmer to 'bully someone your own size'. Gaines and Biles have been engaged in a debate about the inclusion of transgender women in women's sports after the former criticized a Minnesota High School softball team for having a transgender player in its roster.
Biles first wrote:
"bully someone your own size, which would ironically be a male @Riley_Gaines_"
Gaines would respond to this tweet by writing:
"This is so disappointing. My take is the least controversial take on the planet. Simone Biles being a male-apologist at the expense of young girls’ dreams? Didn’t have that on my bingo card. Maybe she could compete in pommel horse and rings in 2028."
Riley Gaines was a 12-time All-American swimmer for the University of Kentucky. While Simone Biles is a seven-time Olympic gold medalist.
