Suni Lee recently opened up about missing gymnastics amid her ongoing break from the sport. She is currently exploring her other interests after moving to New York and has primarily been working in fashion.
Lee was last seen competing on the mat during the 2024 Paris Olympics, where she delivered exceptional performances, helping her team win the gold medal at the team all-around event. Along with this, she also clinched two bronze medals in the uneven bars and the individual all-around event.
Since her Olympics campaign, the gymnast has taken time away from the mat to explore new opportunities; however, she recently opened up about missing the sport amid her new life. She shared a video of her training on the uneven bars on her Instagram story and wrote:
"My monthly post ab me missing it," wrote Suni Lee.

This isn't the first time Lee has been off the gym, as in 2023, she was diagnosed with an incurable kidney disease, which forced her to end her collegiate career early and made her take a hiatus from gymnastics for a few months. Notably, she missed the World Championships. In a recent interview with Humans of Hoka, she discussed her disease and her subsequent break from the sport, stating that it was the hardest thing of her life.
Suni Lee opened up about how gymnastics helped her overcome struggles with body image
Suni Lee recently made her SI Swimsuit debut in the 2025 issue, and in a recent interview with the magazine, the gymnast, who has bagged multiple accolades in the sport, opened up about its dark side and how it helped her. She spoke about wearing skin-fit leotards while competing on the mat, which led to her facing criticism about her body image.
However, she revealed that it eventually helped her learn about her body and referred to it as a "temple."
“Gymnastics has definitely impacted my body image. We have to wear skin-tight leotards. There are so many critics online, but I’m always going to be my biggest critic, so whenever you read things, it just kind of makes you overthink. But I just had to learn that my body is my temple and I wouldn’t be able to do what I have to do without it," Suni Lee said.
The American recently appeared on the red carpet of the 'F1: The Movie' premiere, where she rocked a stunning black-colored shimmer dress. Other stars, such as Lindsey Vonn and music producer Hanz Zimmer, also graced the red carpet with their presence.
