Lindsey Vonn opened up about the similarities between Formula 1 and skiing in her appearance during the premiere of a Brad Pitt movie. The American athlete shared that both F1 drivers as well as ski racers have to be fearless while they are cruising at high speeds.
After coming out of retirement and registering her first podium finish at the Alpine sking World Cup finals, Lindsey Vonn has been preparing to compete at the upcoming Winter Olympics in 2026. Amid her preparations for the quadrennial games, the 40-year-old often makes appearances at major events which included watching various sports as well as attending award shows.
Recently, Lindsey Vonn attended the premire of the Formula 1 movie in New York and spoke about the similarities between car racing and Alpinie skiing. She shared that the tactics used in both the sports in very similar.
Moreover, the former World Cup champion shared that she had the opportunity to drive a Formula 3 car and expressed that she cherished the experience.
"I mean you have to be fearless. The way you see the line and the course is very similar of how we do it in skiing. The tactics are very similar how you generate speed in the apex of the turn, breaking before and accelerating out those are all the same type of dynamics that we use, and I've driven a formula 3 car and I loved it and I wish I would have started driving a little earlier but I think I picked the right sport," she said.

Lindsey Vonn opened up about her Formula 1 dream in an interview with Olympics.com. The American skier shared that she had an opportunity to drive on a Formula 1 track in Austria and shared that she enjoyed the going fast in the race car.
Moreover, this brought about a thought to switch to Formula One as a driver however, she could not go ahead with the plan as it required a commitment of three years as well as restrictions on the exploration of other avenues.
“I was thinking about switching to Formula One and trying to be a driver, but I couldn’t because they wanted me to fully commit to three years and they were like, ‘You can’t get pregnant and you can’t do anything’, and I’m like, ‘I don’t know if I really want to do that’," she said.
Vonn shared that becoming a Formula 1 driver would be very exciting for her considering her personality as well as the nature of the sport.
