On Monday, June 9, Kevin Hart hosted the 2025 BET Awards, where the comedian made an indirect dig at Diddy's afterparties and his history of hosting them. Hart said he was "shutting down after-parties" after the award show, adding:
"Take your a**es home after this; that’s why I did this on a Monday. People gotta go to work tomorrow. No after-parties. That’s where sh*t gets slippery, at them goddamn afterparties. We’re learning a lot about people, ain’t we?"
Hart's apparent dig at Combs' afterparty comes months after the Let Me Explain actor deflected a question about him. As per Daily Mail, when Kevin and his wife, Eniko Hart, were on the way to the LAVO restaurant in West Hollywood in September 2024, a reporter asked him a question about Diddy.
Hart was asked if he knew anything about the baby oil bottles found at Combs' home when he used to "host parties" for him. Quickly denying his involvement in Combs' infamous parties, Kevin Hart responded, saying:
"When I hosted for Diddy? You're asking the wrong person the wrong question."
The journalist pressed on, asking if Hart thought Combs would be safe in prison, to which he reiterated: "Wrong person, wrong question," as he walked off.
Hart's response came in the weeks that followed Diddy's arrest in New York on September 16, 2024. The Last Night rapper, who is charged with sex trafficking and racketeering, has pleaded not guilty.
"Jane" testified that Diddy forced a sexual encounter on her after being accused of cheating
Kevin Hart's roast at Diddy's afterparties comes as his ongoing sex trafficking trial enters its fifth week, with his ex-girlfriend "Jane" testifying on the witness stand.
On Monday, June 9, Jane spoke about June 18, 2024, when she had planned "a romantic night with Combs" that went in a different direction, AP News reports. That night, Jane accused the Victory rapper of cheating on her, which triggered him.
As per Jane's testimony, Combs first beat her, then called a male "entertainer" and gave her an ecstasy pill to eat, adding: "You're not going to ruin my night like this."
Jane, who had suffered multiple facial injuries from the beating, was then forced to perform a sexual encounter with the sex worker on Combs' instruction.
Elsewhere in her testimony, Jane said that after reading Cassie Ventura's 2023 lawsuit against Diddy, she cried for three days, feeling nauseated about the hundreds of drug-fueled "freak-offs."
Jane added that reading Ventura's account of her relationship with Combs made her feel like she was "reading my own sexual trauma."
According to AP News, a few weeks after the alleged incident Jane's testimony was about, Sean Combs issued a public apology video. This was about the leaked 2016 footage of him beating Cassie Ventura, his then-girlfriend, and in the video, he mentioned that he was "committed to being a better man every day."
Per CNN, defense attorney Teny Geragos stated in court that the cross-examination of Jane should be wrapped up by Thursday, June 12.
