In season 12 of Love Island UK, which premiered on June 9, the participants entered as usual, seeking love and hoping to shine bright as a couple, enough to win the public vote. The season also introduced its first bombshell, who had to choose a guy already coupled up with someone else.
She picked Ben, and even though she hadn't gotten to know him well before the recoupling ceremony, she hoped to find a connection with him in the coming days. In the process, she also singled out Shakira, Ben's initial partner. This left Shakira vulnerable to elimination because if she didn't find a man to couple up with within 24 hours, she would be sent home.
In episode 2, when Ben and Toni chatted, Ben mistakenly called her "Tori," which the latter immediately corrected. She didn't take it lightly, as she didn't laugh when she corrected him, nor did she console him. According to what was shown, Ben did forget his partner's name, but he had only been in the villa for one day before that, so he earned the benefit of the doubt.

However, after the initial hiccup, Ben and Toni seemed to connect well. During their conversation, they expressed how they were each other's type. Ben also mentioned that he wasn't particularly upset about leaving Shakira and pairing up with Toni, since it was only his first day at the Love Island UK villa.

When Ben and Toni sat down to chat after she coupled up with him, she asked him if he was upset about not being with Shakira. Ben said he wasn't. Toni also asked if he found Shakira attractive. Ben replied that many people in the Love Island UK villa were attractive to him, so he wasn't particularly upset.
"I like your type, personality-wise," he added.
She stated that she needed someone to keep up with her, and Ben agreed, saying he was "a 100%" that. She also mentioned that she was funny, which Ben teased her about, saying she wasn't. She insisted she was, which eventually led Ben to accept that she was.
She further said that he was her type and mentioned she only picked him based on his looks since they didn't have time to get to know each other before the recoupling ceremony.
Toni asked him what he did for fun, and he said his first choice is always to go on vacation, joking that he would never go to America because that's where Toni was from. She said she didn't believe he had never been to America. He replied that he was waiting for a tour guide, and Toni offered to take him.
"I've been waiting for a girl called Tori who lives in Vegas," he said, pronouncing her name incorrectly.
She promptly corrected him with a straight face. Ben said, "Oh f*ck" and covered his face with his hands in shame. Toni added suspenseful background music to the scene. While the moment wasn't funny, it was odd enough for Love Island UK to post a clip of it on their official Instagram page.
