Season 6 of Love Island Australia aired episode 20 on Thursday, November 28, 2024. In one episode segment, Steph approached Zane to discuss his treatment of Sophie and Kaylah, women he called things off with in the previous episode. Steph believed Zane's behavior towards the ladies was hurtful. Consequently, he advised him to better understand his feelings before pursuing anyone.

Steph believed Zane could have dealt with the situation much better had he been clear about his feelings. The Love Island Australia cast member sympathized with the ladies and criticized Zane for leading them on when he knew he was not fully committed to any of them.

"He acts like a child. Like, he don't know what he want, he don't know why he's here," Steph said.

In the previous episode, Zane returned from Hotel Amor with Sophie but recoupled with Kaylah. His decision confused Sophie who believed Zane was more inclined toward her. When she asked him to explain his decision, the Love Island Australia cast member stated that he was unsure about his feelings. At the same time, he crushed Sophie's hopes by saying he would not pursue her either.

"Women have feelings" — Love Island Australia star Steph sympathizes with Sophie and Kaylah

After Zane ended things with Sophie and Kaylah, Steph pulled him aside to discuss what motivated him to take such a drastic step. The Love Island Australia star explained he did not feel a spark with either of them so he decided it was in his best interest not to pursue those connections. However, Steph was unconvinced.

Steph stated that it was not the first time he realized his feelings after leading his partner on. He reminded Zane of what he did with Xanthe, his previous partner, calling his behavior "bullsh*t." Even in the face of Steph's criticism, Zane reiterated that he did not feel anything. At that point, Steph buried his face in his palm, frustrated by the cast member's nonchalant demeanor.

Steph advised Zane to commit himself fully to the woman he fancied without straying from his path. In case, he started feeling otherwise, Steph advised him to come clean to her before things got serious.

The Love Island Australia star acknowledged that the show's format encouraged interaction with different people, however, it did not mean that islanders should do that at the expense of people's feelings. Steph sympathized with Sophie and Kaylah and said:

"Like, I swear to God women have feelings, I swear to God," he said.

He mentioned that while he was with Kaylah at Hotel Amor, he realized how deeply she cared for Zane. Steph believed Kaylah cared so much about Zane because he "gave her the reason" to.

Zane took accountability for mishandling the situation and said he broke off with both Sophie and Kaylah because he did not want to hurt them by leading them on. Nonetheless, Steph urged Zane to "be clear" with his feelings.

While speaking to the cameras, Zane opened up about his conversation with Steph and said:

"I don't know if it's advice or maybe a dig. Um, he kind of told me that I was hurting these girls' feelings, and it kind of felt like he thought I was doing it on purpose which I wasn't."

Later, Zane talked to Taylor about his conversation with Steph and told him how critical Steph was about his treatment of Sophie and Kaylah. At that point, Taylor retaliated saying Steph had previously flirted with Krissy and not told his partner, Mimi about it.

Taylor believed Steph was in no position to police Zane's behavior when he was dishonest to his own partner.

Love Island Australia airs Monday to Thursday at 6 pm AEDT only on 9Now.
