Love Island UK season 12 finally premiered on June 9. The episode saw the participants entering the villa to commence their quest to find love, with the hopes of leaving with someone by their side. Maya Jama again held the helm for the season, returning as a host.
The participants chatted and attempted to get to know more about each other to help themselves decide who they wanted to couple up with. When Harry spoke to Sophie, she opened up about a fire accident she had been in.
"It made me the woman that I am," she shared.

She stated that she also learned how to interact with people and how to be better because of the incident. She also shared that she believed that to date people, one needed to be in a good place within oneself. Harry agreed.
She said she wasn’t ready to date in her early 20s because she didn’t feel good about herself and needed to work on her confidence. Now, she’s a motivational speaker and author and feels much better. Harry was impressed by her growth, said he loved reading, and felt a connection with Sophie. He chose to couple up with her on his first night in the Love Island UK villa.

Toni entered as the first bombshell of season 12. As a bombshell, she had the perk to choose any boy of her liking, steal him from his existing partner, and recouple with him. But that would also mean that she would leave his partner single and susceptible to elimination.
Toni chose to pick Ben, leaving Shakira single. Now, because it was the first night at the Love Island UK villa, Maya told Shakira that the good news was that she wasn't going home right away and had 24 hours to get a boy to pair up with her.
She had to steal someone else's man to save herself, and if no boy wanted to couple up with her, she would have to go home. But if she succeeded, she wouldn't have to go. But the girl she would steal the boy from would be eliminated. With that, Maya Jama concluded the episode. Now it is for the fans to see if Shakira steals a man or goes home.
