Judges Gordon Ramsay, Tiffany Derry, and Joe Bastianich asked the teams to cook a dinner party dish. Three pairs impressed the judges and made it to the top, while the other three landed at the bottom and faced strong criticism.

Kevin & Trey, a bestfriend duo, were among the bottom 3 and were eliminated for their Cajun Seafood Pasta with Shrimp, Scallops, and Mussels. While Tiffany refused to eat the dish again, Joe criticized their teamwork.

For the challenge in this episode, Gordon organised a dinner party. The judges wanted to see how the contestants did when it came to serving their guests at their doorstep. Their instructions were that every dish needed to be "restaurant quality," and they only had one hour to cook it.

After the chefs had finished cooking, the judges would taste the top 3 dishes and then the bottom 3 dishes to decide which duo was to be sent home. The top 3 consisted of Tina & Aivan, Zach & Michelle, and Adam & Joel. Of the three, Zach & Michelle bagged the win and were given a "huge" advantage for the next challenge.

Coming to the MasterChef bottom 3, Kevin & Trey made a Cajun Seafood Pasta with Shrimp, Scallops, and Mussels. Gordon had some tough words for the duo as he stated,

"It's just badly executed. Never serve mussels that haven't opened — that's a death sentence."

Tiffany also stated that the ingredients of the dish felt like they were thrown in together. She also bluntly said that it wasn't a dish she would like to eat again. Joe called the dish an "epic fail". He also pointed out that Kevin and Trey lacked teamwork.

With those judgments, Kevin and Trey became the first duo of MasterChef season 15 to go home. Before leaving, the bestfriend duo swore that if they went down, they would go down together. With Kevin and Trey's elimination, there were now 5 pairs of chefs remaining.

What were the other dishes at the bottom of MasterChef season 15 episode 4?

Alongside Kevin & Trey were two other pairs of chefs who were susceptible to elimination because they hit the MasterChef bottom. Darce & Courtney prepared a Corn Pasta with Corn Sauce, Corn Ribs, and Corn Breadcrumbs. Gordon said he didn't get it because the dish looked "clunky".

"You missed the mark. You can't invite me over to eat just corn," he added.

Tiffany said she liked the corn ribs and their spice, but couldn’t actually taste any corn, which she expected to. She also felt the pasta lacked corn flavor. Joe agreed and criticized the dish, saying the pasta tasted like it was cooked in leftover movie theater popcorn butter.

Tonna & Cait, on the other hand, made a Cheeseburger with Bacon & Date Jam, Spicy Mayo, Fries, and Arugula Salad. Gordon thought their dish was "pedestrian" and reminded them that it was a dinner party, not a barbecue. Joe thought their dish was overcooked.

"I hoped it would be better than it looked. It's almost like I don't have beef here and I have just have dates and bacon," Tiffany said.

The judges thought Kevin & Trey's dish was worse than both of these dishes, so they let them go.
