Chicago Fire Season 12 recap: All to remember before season 13 arrives

Chicago Fire Season 12 is an American drama television series about the lives, dangers and personal challenges of firefighters and paramedics in Chicago. It was produced by Dick Wolf along with the inspiration of Law & Order and has been created by Derek Haas and Matt Olmstead. The series was renewed by NBC for a twelfth season on April 10, 2023, which premiered on 17 January, 2024.

Chicago Fire Season 12 ran for 13 episodes and had a wrap-up episode for 22 May 2024. This season was full of incredibly crucial rescue missions, heart-wrenching moments and pure bonding among the firefighters at Firehouse 51. Under the watch of Dick Wolf and his men, the season came out full of paws and pulses of both action and heartfelt drama.

The introduction of Severide back to Firehouse 51 in Chicago Fire Season 12 stirs up quite a storm, especially between Kidd and Herrmann as they seem to spark over the return of Ritter. Moreover, the firehouse faces various challenges within Chicago Fire Season 12, like temporary quarters shared with Firehouse 17 and their cooperation with them to investigate a series of explosions.

Hermann is injured in one of the explosions, his hearing lost and making him permanently impaired: Ritter prods him to get that corrected. Meanwhile, Casey puts Brett through a tryout with him so they can get married. Mouch begins making plans for his life after service, how he will be remembered for having changed his nickname.

The season continues with personal challenges that come out for many of the crew. For Kidd, she grows concerned about Severide's involvement in an arson case that could take him away from Chicago again. Herrmann has resulted from his hearing test that weighs heavily on him.

Then there is Cruz who has to decide to take the Lieutenant's test without Severide's knowledge. Meanwhile, the new members at Firehouse 51 continue to disturb the firehouse's dynamics as Brett and Violet manage a domestic disturbance call.

Violet also gets promoted, which again adds to her burden of new responsibilities while trying to accommodate and support Brett in getting ready for his wedding. It ends with a great change for the firehouse with the season. Many familiar faces will return to Firehouse 51 as Brett and Casey get married.

Yet, danger is always lurking as Brett finds herself trapped in a hostage situation during a call. Meanwhile, the firehouse has to worry about Severide's disappearance. Cruz and Chloe's marriage hits rock bottom, while the firehouse continues to work out personal and professional issues.

The future of the firehouse becomes vast, with Boden considering Herrmann for a life-changing promotion to spread much excitement as everyone awaits the next season.
