The show Killing Eve ended in April 2022 and several new viewers are just discovering the female-led crime drama on Netflix. The British series depicts an MI5 agent Eve Polastri trying to hunt down a serial killer, along with her friend and boss Bill Pargrave.

However, Bill Pargrave is killed in the first season of Killing Eve and is murdered in episode three by Villanelle, the female assassin they were trying to catch. His death leaves a deep impact on Eve, as it is the first major loss that she faces at the hands of the Russian serial killer.

This turns the investigation personal for Eve as she wants to catch the person behind her friend's murder. However, the cat-and-mouse chase soon becomes an obsession for both parties as unexpected feelings get involved.

The series stars Sandra Oh as Eve Polastri, Jodie Comer as Villanelle, David Haig as Bill Pargrave, and Fiona Shaw as Carolyn Martens, among others.

Bill Pargrave works at MI5 as Head of Security and although he is Eve's boss, he is also a close friend of hers. The opening of the show gives a glimpse into their friendship, with Eve singing at a karaoke during Bill's birthday. The two work under Frank Haleton (Darren Boyd), who introduces them to Carolyn Martens (Fiona Shaw), the head of the MI6 Russia desk.

Bill and Eve are tasked with providing diplomatic protection to Kasia Molkolvska, the girlfriend of a Russian politician who was recently assassinated. Although Bill relays to Eve that CCTV footage showed that the killer was a man, she is adamant that the killer is a woman.

Later, when Eve goes to the hospital to check on Kasia, Bill calls to inform her that the CCTV footage did not exist and they had been lied to. When Eve returns from a trip to the bathroom, she finds the nurse and security detail dead with Kasia bleeding from her throat. While Eve tries to save Kasia and stop the bleeding, the latter ends up dying.

Due to her failure to save Kasia and insubordination, Frank fires Eve from MI5. Bill is also fired when he supports Eve when she calls Frank a "d*ck swab." However, the two are later tasked with an "unofficial-official" investigation led by Carolyn, to uncover Villanelle's identity.

Their investigation leads the two to Berlin in episode three, titled Don't I Know You? Bill is initially hesitant to go and asks Eve to take Elena, but she convinces him to accompany her due to his knowledge of the German language and contacts. It is here that Bill foreshadows his impending doom when he jokes about his death.

While at a train station, Bill runs into Villanelle when he stops her from getting into the same train as Eve. Feeling suspicious, he follows her to a club and updates Eve about his chase. After she gets his message, Eve goes to meet up with him.

Bill spots Villanelle on the dance floor of the club he followed her into. Eve eventually reaches the location, but the crowd slows down her movements. Tapped amidst the dancing bodies, Bill struggles to escape while Villanelle approaches and stabs him multiple times with a blade. As she escapes and Eve rushes to his side, Bill bleeds out and dies.

Although appearing in only three episodes of season one, Bill makes his mark on the show. His death marks a dark turn for Eve as she ventures into a dangerous path of vengeance and obsession.

Created by Fleabag star Phoebe Waller-Bridge, all four seasons of Killing Eve are currently available to stream on Netflix US and BBC iPlayer.
