A brief recap of Foundation season 3 episode 7

Foundation season 3 episode 7, titled Foundation's End, opens with a flashback to the planet Rossem and reveals the origin story of a teenage Mentalic. It shows his family struggling under the Foundation's harsh rules, especially their one-child policy, forcing the parents to pick one child to live and kill the other after the assessors discover they have two children.

The story returns to the present, where The Mule has conquered New Terminus and walks onto Foundation's base, prompting Mayor Indbur to surrender immediately. However, his real target, aside from the planet itself, was Han Pritcher, and Indbur reveals that he has him captured in a cell.

By the time they reach the cell, Pritcher has escaped, and the ruthless Mentalic is unhappy at this new development and forces the Mayor to drown himself in a bathroom sink. On the same planet, Magnifico Giganticus has disappeared, and Toran Mallow barely manages to escape with his life and is forced to leave his wife, Bayta, behind.

Meanwhile, back in Mycogen, Brother Day has recovered from his shock and undergoes an intense drug-induced experience while being interrogated by Song. It sends him back to his own childhood, where Demerzel provides Song and her friends with various insights into the Empire and herself.

The episode ends with the tale of the teenage Mentalic, as his parents decide to drown him to save their infant, but that unlocks his latent Mentalic powers. However, by the end of the episode, the show reveals that it’s The Mule telling his story to Digital Seldon, who questions the veracity of the tale.

Following The Mule’s attack and subsequent takeover of New Terminus, episode 8 will likely tackle the continued fallout across the galaxy after the warlord’s actions.

His main reason for conquering New Terminus is to find Gaal Dornick, and after Han Pritcher escaped, it made things slightly more complicated for him. However, The Mule discovers that Pritcher is still on New Terminus, and the episode will likely focus on Pritcher’s escape as well as the Mentalic’s attempt to find him.

Gaal Dornick and Brother Dawn will likely also return to the screen after their absence in the previous episode, with Dornick still attempting to contact New Terminus and gather some information about the situation. Dawn, on the other hand, hasn’t been seen since he flew out of the airlock in episode 6.

Meanwhile, on Mycogen, Brother Day’s encounter with the Sunmaster will likely cause problems for the Cleon clone, especially after he gave Song and her group information about Demerzel.
