Daredevil: Born Again promises not to hold back as head of Marvel Television Brad Winderbaum has revealed that fans should expect some super intense fights from the show. Starring Charlie Cox, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Vincent D'Onofrio, Jon Bernthal, and more, the upcoming Disney+ show will be a continuation of the original Daredevil Netflix series.
Talking to Entertainment Weekly, Winderbaum mentioned how Daredevil: Born Again will have some of the most "brutal action" that fans will have ever seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
"I'll tell you, some of the most brutal action we've ever brought to the screen is coming in Daredevil: Born Again, which isn't a horror show, but really it packs a lot of power and there's a lot of visceral action, to say the least," said Winderbaum.
Winderbaum spoke about the upcoming Daredevil series when he was talking about the filmmaker's intent of incorporating horror in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Agatha All Along:
"I think that it goes back to the filmmaker's intent. The horror on screen in Agatha is going to be different than the horror on screen in Marvel Zombies, is going to be different than the horror on screen in Blade. It was different than the horror on screen in Moon Knight.
Brad Winderbaum, while speaking to Entertainment Weekly also mentioned that the approach to horror cues is shaped by the filmmaker’s vision, just as it is in any genre. There are countless ways to tell a story, depending on the perspective of the storyteller.
Daredevil: Born Again first look was showcased at D23
Daredevil: Born Again is anticipated by fans at the moment, and the first look of it was showcased at D23 earlier this year on August 9, 2024. The trailer, which was for audience eyes only, featured a brand new look at Charlie Cox's Marvel superhero. Furthermore, the event featured first looks at White Tiger and the villain Muse in the upcoming show.
In addition, fans in attendance got to see the return of Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle / The Punisher, and Wilson Bethel as Bullseye. Their inclusion in the show was part of the behind-the-scenes revamping. Marvel Studios scrapped the earlier version and reshot it with new creatives and storylines.
While speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Cox and other cast members mentioned that while Daredevil: Born Again won't be adapting the comic book of the same name, it will still be in line with the original Netflix Marvel series. While it's unclear what the plot of the show will be, fans can expect to see Matt Murdock and Kingpin cross paths once more which will certainly put the two rivals at odds.
When does Daredevil: Born Again come out?
The show was set for a release in spring 2024 but was delayed by the creative revamp by Marvel and a further delay due to the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes.
Part of Phase Five of the Marcel Cinematic Universe, Daredevil: Born Again is currently slated to premiere in March 2025. The show was initially set to have over 18 episodes, but the series' first season will only consist of nine episodes.
