The American comedy-television drama series Hacks starring Jean Smart and Hannah Einbinder and created by Jen Statsky, Lucia Aniello, and Paul W. Downs has been renewed for its fourth season by Max, as reported by various media outlets.

Max renewed Hacks for its fourth season right after the season 3 finale, titled Bulletproof, and aired on May 30, 2024, on Max. Season 3 of this comedy-drama has nine episodes in total.

Sarah Aubrey, the head of Max Original Programming studio, who announced the news of season 4, said in her statement

"We congratulate Hacks' brilliant cast and crew, and our partners at Universal Television. Hacks is a masterfully crafted comedy delivering laughs and sharp insights about the vulnerability and joy of sharing a dream."

It continues:

"The creative team behind this singular show is not only brilliant, but also a joy to work with. We couldn’t be happier to give viewers another season with Deborah, Ava, and the rest of the Hacks family.”

President of Universal Television, Erin Underhill, also thanked the show's crew and seemed excited about the season renewal. She said in her statement:

"Hats off to Jen [Statsky], Lucia [Aniello] and Paul [W. Downs] for crafting a world as compelling and poignant as it is clever and funny. We applaud our outstanding cast, who made it easy to fall in love with these flawed, hilarious and deeply human characters, and we thank everyone at Max for a terrific partnership over the first three seasons and counting. We can’t wait to deliver more Hacks to fans around the world!”

What is the show Hacks all about?

The Gen Z comedy-drama explores a dark mentorship that forms between an entitled 25-year-old outcast and a legendary Las Vegas Comedian called Deborah France.

In season 1 of this show, Ava Daniels, a canceled young comedy writer, was selected to write jokes and help Deborah Vance make the first guest women standup a hit.

Deborah and Ava were seen arguing throughout the season because of conflicting views and their varying approaches to humor. However, after one point, they started mutually respecting and loving each other. Their relationship was destroyed when Deborah slapped Ava after she looked for outside work.

In season 2, Ava and Deborah eventually make up, even after Deborah finds out about the email that Ava sent to television producers, pointing out her partner's faults. Despite their differences, both of them are seen working hard in season 2 to create the best standup set.

Season 2 ends with Deborah and Ava on a high note as they sell thousands of copies through QVC and become successful.

In season 3 of this show, fans see Deborah Vance, who a year after parting is riding high off the success of her standup special. On the other hand, Ava is seen trying to pursue new chances in Los Angeles.

The show stars Jean Smart as Deborah Vance, Hannah Einbinder as Ava Daniels, Jane Adams as Nina Daniels, and Lorenza Izzo as Ruby among many others.

All episodes of season 3 of Hacks are now streaming on Max.
