Silo season 2 episode 3 dropped on Apple TV+ on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, a couple of days ahead of the show's usual Friday release. The early drop brings overarching stories about what's happening in the neighboring Silo 17 and 18.
Unlike the first two episodes of Silo season 2, the third episode of the dystopian sci-fi drama finally gives a proper introduction to the show's mystery character—the man inside the vault in Silo 17, played by Steven Zhan.
Silo season 2 episode 3 sees Solo, the man inside the vault, finally coming out after he's been helping Juliette with her plan to prevent what happened to Silo 17 from happening in Silo 18.
Meeting the mystery man revealed a lot of things Juliette didn't know about the other silos. Meanwhile, in Silo 18, Shirley leads a protest to free one of their own people, but it ended in chaos and that cost them someone's life.

Silo season 2 episode 3 ending sees Juliette finally meeting Solo face to face
The final scenes of Silo season 2 episode 3 saw the man who was hiding inside the vault in Silo 17, Solo, coming out to meet Juliette face to face. Although he hinted about going out of the vault at times, he never explored much of the abandoned Silo.
His awe of how huge the space was was evident when he came out of hiding to stop Juliette from leaving.
A new character joined the original Silo cast in season 2, the mystery blue-eyed man whom Juliette Nichols met at the end of Silo season 2 episode 1. There wasn't any backstory about his character in the premiere episode, and only those who have read Hugh Howey's Silo trilogy, which is where the series is based, would know who the man is.
For those who have only watched the show, Silo season 2 episode 3 revealed that his name is Solo, although that isn't his real name. Back in episode 1, a flashback to the rebellion that caused the extinction of Silo 17 showed a young boy named Tim, who was kept somewhere safe.
Tim turns out to be Solo, the only survivor of Silo 17. In Apple TV+'s Silo season 2 episode 3, he revealed to Juliette how a man named Russell told him to never open the vault door for anyone. However, being isolated for many years, if not decades, Solo appeared to crave human connection.
At one point during his conversation with Juliette, he hinted about imagining people. It was why he gave her food, chicken stew to be exact, to know if she was real. Solo said that if she ate the food, then he would know that she was real.
When Juliette asked for his help, Solo refused to leave his vault, despite Juliette's endless coaxing. The former sheriff eventually gave up and walked away, and that was when Solo called her, saying, "Don't go!" When Juliette turned around, there was this gray-haired, bearded man—Solo, who was skittish but also eager to explore Silo 17 with her.
Silo season 2 episode 3 ending teases people trying to break into Solo's vault
As seen in Silo season 2 episode 1, as well as in episode 2 via the feed Bernard saw from Juliette's suit, Silo 17's entrance is littered with the remains of its citizens. There were hundreds, if not thousands, of them.
They were the people who died during the rebellion, where the citizens insisted on going outside, only for the toxic atmosphere to kill them within minutes.
However, the decades-old skeletons of Silo 17 citizens weren't the only dead remains in the abandoned Silo. Juliette pointed out to Solo that the two bodies outside of the vault appeared to be newer ones. She questioned him about it, which made Solo clam up and close the slit he used to see and talk to Juliette.
With Solo refusing to answer her questions, Juliette appeared to think that there was a story there. Later in Silo season 2 episode 3, she implied that killing those people was among the times Solo left his vault. She also saw the graffiti that those people likely wrote because they tried to open Solo's vault but failed.
The graffiti read:
"We will get in sooner or later."
Only time will tell who those two dead bodies belong to. However, they could be people sent by the higher authorities to kill Solo. Given that everyone from Silo 17 died, it makes Solo an anomaly, which could be enough reason for whoever is in charge of the Silos to get rid of him.
Having people try to break into his vault and possibly kill him would also explain his animosity towards Juliette when they first met. He threatened to kill her if she ever tried to open the vault in episode 1.

Silo season 2 episode 3 title meaning explored
Silo season 2 episode 3 is titled "Solo," which has everything to do with the identity of the mysterious blue-eyed man hiding inside the vault in the abandoned Silo 17. It's the name the man gave Juliette when she asked him who he was.
He doesn't have a surname, and he just calls himself Solo. He told Juliette that he calls himself that because he was alone in Silo 17 and that he's been there for a very long time.
He's the sole survivor of the abandoned Silo and appears to have been in isolation there for several decades since he was still a young boy during the rebellion started.
Someone from Mechanical died in Silo season 2 episode 3
An altercation with the people from Mechanical and the guards in Silo season 2 episode 3 ended with Cooper dying. As the story between Juliette and Solo developed in Silo 17, unrest continued happening in Silo 18.
Teddy was arrested for painting the 'JL' graffiti all over the Silo, but Shirley and some people from Mechanical joined forces to protest and have Teddy freed.
However, someone from the back lit a fireball and threw it across the guards. Cooper was trying to prevent the man from throwing the fireball, but he was unsuccessful.
When one of the guards tried to shoot the man, Cooper was fatally hit. He served as Juliette's shadow in Silo season 1, and in season 2, Knox asked him to update him on everything Shirley does, but he ended up joining Shirley's group to find out the truth about what happened to Juliette.
