In an interview with Playbill, the actor commented on the main sources of his acting training, saying,

Austin Scott's journey
Before his breakthrough in Clipped, Austin Scott took on various jobs to support his acting career, including driving for Uber and Lyft while living in L.A. Although he didn't miss the job, it helped cover his expenses and introduced him to some very interesting people.
Alexander Hamilton in Hamilton and William Shakespeare in & Juliet are among Scott's notable roles. He has received significant praise for his versatility and ability to play several parts.
Scott spoke with Boston Magazine and recalled the day he received the news of getting cast as Alexander Hamilton.
"It was in the middle of the day and I was on a train going to the park to clear my head and stop stressing out about getting the role. And my agents called to tell me, 'You booked Hamilton and you’re going to be playing Alexander Hamilton.' And I freaked out. I jumped off the train and was running up and down the street in Harlem, screaming and asking all sorts of questions and probably crying and laughing. It took a couple of days to sink in and feel real."
Austin Scott talked about how Lin-Manuel Miranda's portrayal of Alexander Hamilton affected him personally. In relation to this, he mentioned that he never felt pressured to imitate Lin in appearance, sound, or behavior.
He emphasized that when people watch his performance, he doesn't want them to think he resembles Lin in any way. Instead, he wants the audience to recognize his dedication and care.
Observing Lin's portrayal, he noted that Lin seemed to understand the significance behind each word he spoke, making every word seem important. He believes this aspect is crucial to Hamilton's character, as Hamilton uses his words to achieve his goals and impact the world.
Speaking with Playbill, he mentioned that his favorite scene was when Shakespeare decides to bring one of his characters back from the dead,
"Without completely giving away any major plot points, my favorite moment in the show is when Shakespeare decides to bring one of his characters back from the dead. It’s such a spectacularly ludicrous moment, and I get to orchestrate it all. The audience goes crazy every time."
