YouTube personality Jimmy "MrBeast" recently responded to allegations levied against him by a TikTok account, which the YouTuber claimed was "cosplaying" as a news site and falsifying information about his philanthropic ventures in Africa. The TikTok account alleged that the wells built by MrBeast in Africa in November 2023 have since been left unmaintained.

MrBeast, who has a separate channel on YouTube dedicated to his charitable undertakings called Beast Philanthropy, made a post on X expressing his frustration with the "brand new" TikTok account defaming him:

"Random person makes a brand new Tik Tok account, makes a video that’s a straight up lie about the wells I built, and now you’re all falling for it. THIS IS NOT A REAL NEWS SITE THIS IS A RANDOM BRAND NEW TIK TOK ACCOUNT COSPLAYING AS ONE! I’m so over being defamed."

MrBeast calls out TikTok channel for alleging that he has abandoned wells built by him in Africa

MrBeast is the largest content creator on YouTube, boasting a massive subscriber count of over 403 million. He is known for creating and uploading videos focusing on extravagant, game show-esque challenges on his main channel. On the other hand, his Beast Philanthropy channel is solely focused on documenting his charitable ventures, with all the money generated being used to maintain these projects and organize new ones.

A TikTok channel (@cpatnews) recently uploaded a video about the wells built by MrBeast in Africa, which had been documented in his video I Built 100 Wells In Africa on his main channel. The video alleged that "all" of the wells had been left "unmaintained," and that the locals had allegedly reported that the wells had been "abandoned" since.

Further, it quoted Senegalese blogger Magatte Wade, who had written in a post on her Substack blog:

"If MrBeast genuinely wants to help Africa, he could redirect his enormous resources and influence toward enabling African solutions rather than importing Western ones."

This is not the first time the Beast Games creator has found himself amid controversy. The YouTube star had become the subject of much discussion in May 2025, after reports emerged that the Mexican government intended to take action against him for his video titled Explored 2000 Year Old Ancient Temples, for allegedly including an advertisement for his chocolate brand, Feastables.
