Twitch streamer Nick "Nmplol" recently made remarks about the supposed view botting on Twitch, which, he claimed, is "blatantly" visible on the platform. View botting is a practice of utilizing automated mechanisms to artificially inflate one's viewer count on a streaming platform, potentially leading to higher visibility and/or engagement.

In Discord messages sent by the OTK member, he stated that there are Twitch content creators who have allegedly been utilizing view botting for "years" without the audience being aware of it:

"Think of it this way, it's easier to call out cuz you can blatantly see it, but there's ppl who've been botting on Twitch for years and you've had no idea. So which is worse? One that's obviously botted or the lie you've been swallowing this whole time."

Furthermore, he claimed that he has personally reported Twitch streamers who had been partaking in view botting, but to no avail:

"Twitch doesn’t care btw - I've reported these ppl to Twitch and they do nothing."

Allegations of live content creators partaking in view botting have been a recurring concern in the streaming world, so much so that Twitch itself has dedicated a section within its Twitch Help website to discussing the activity. The platform considers the act of engaging in artificial viewer inflation as a violation of its policies, with punishments being levied on violators.

Subsequently, Twitch has also encouraged users to report other users who have claimed to be responsible for, or have offered, viewbotting services on the streaming platform. However, Twitch has also stated that it would not punish a user for view botting done on their channel if it is being carried out by another individual, stating:

"Twitch will not punish a user for the actions of another. If you are not responsible for botting, Twitch will not take action against you."

Seemingly, as per Nmplol, some streamers misuse this leeway by Twitch, with him claiming:

"Unless they openly admit it, they just say 'yeah I'm being botted, but it's not me it someone else" I've heard this so many times and ppl just eat it up lmao"

Kick streamer Luis "Westcol" had also discussed the usage of viewbots by fellow Kick content creators earlier this year in March, asking the platform to take action against content creators making use of the technology.
