Content creator and streamer Norme has revealed that YouTube banned his Awake for 12 Days WORLD RECORD stream around 12 hours before he was set to achieve his goal. For those out of the loop, he had been attempting to break the so-called "world record" for going without sleep for the longest period on a recent livestream.

The YouTuber, with over a million subscribers, went viral after clips from his broadcast were shared on social media, with many raising concerns over his health. Readers should note that the Guinness Book of World Records did not track this record due to medical issues and other technical challenges involved.

Norme was attempting to break a former feat set by Randy Gardner who had managed to stay awake for about 11 days. However, on August 11, the content creator shared the news on social media that YouTube had banned him.

Why did YouTube ban Norme? Streamer's livestream removed 12 hours before he could reach "world record"

On August 11, 2024, Norme posted a photo of himself in front of a computer screen, showcasing the YouTube message banning the "world record" attempt. He had captioned the post:

"I GOT BANNED FROM YOUTUBE literally 12 hours from goal istg crying rn."

It appears YouTube agrees with the Guinness Book of World Records and banned the stream due to how dangerous the challenge he had undertaken was. In the photo the content creator uploaded, a official statement from the Google-owned video-sharing platform can be seen, along with the reason for the removal of the "world record":

"It looks like Awake for 12 days WORLD RECORD LIVE 24/7 didn't follow Community Guidelines. To help keep our community safe, we removed it from YouTube."

This was followed by a line expressing YouTube's stance on the content:

"We think your content didn't follow our harmful and dangerous policy."

While disappointed, Norme has taken the news of the YouTube ban on the chin and is currently continuing his "world record" attempt over on Kick.
