Angel Reese's Chicago Sky debut: Date, where to watch & more

WNBA: Draft
When is Angel Reese's Chicago Sky debut?

The upcoming WNBA season is set to be one of the most highly anticipated sports events as college superstars like Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese are set to make their debuts. Reese, who is considered one of the best players in her class, was drafted by the Chicago Sky with the seventh overall pick.

Reese will likely make her debut during their preseason matchup against the Minnesota Lynx on May 3. In the unlikely event that she doesn't suit up in her team's preseason opener, her coaches would likely want to see her play against the New York Liberty set to take place on May 7.

If you aren't sure where to watch WNBA games, you can check out WNBA League Pass or Fubo TV but both require a subscription. Additionally, the game should also be available on local channels that air games for the Lynx and the Sky but at the time of writing, those exact channels are yet to be revealed or if the game will be nationally televised.

If you're more interested in seeing Reese suit up in a regular season game, the WNBA kicks off their regular season on May 14 as per the league's official schedule.

Reese will be making her regular-season debut on that day against the Dallas Wings.

Angel Reese set to team up with South Carolina's Kamilla Cardoso with the Sky

If you need more reasons to tune in to the Chicago Sky's games this season, here's one. Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso, who were formerly college rivals, will share the front court as the team's rookie duo.

Cardoso, a 6-foot-7 center from Brazil, was taken third overall by the Chicago Sky. She was one of the most dominant forces in the paint, especially during her senior year.

Cardoso's last year in college propelled her into becoming a lottery pick. She averaged 14.4 points and 9.7 rebounds in 32 games for the 2023-24 season, while also averaging 2.5 blocks per game.

Meanwhile, Angel Reese, who is listed as a power forward at 6-foot-3, can also do plenty of damage on the inside. During her two seasons at LSU, she averaged 20.9 points and 14.4 boards per contest. Between Reese and Cardoso, it might be tough to get rebounds against Chicago Sky, especially when their game begins to click and fully translates into the pros.

Aside from this potentially formidable frontcourt duo, the team also drafted Brynna Maxwell with the first pick of the second round. Maxwell played for Utah from 2019-20 to 2021-22 before transferring to Gonzaga where she closed her college career.

In college, Maxwell was a reliable scorer, never averaging under 10.6 points in a season. The talented guard provides the perimeter shooting that Cardoso and Reese do not have as she averaged 43.7% from downtown throughout college. She has also shown some flashes as a pesky perimeter defender.
