Iowa junior Jada Gyamfi happily posed for a few pictures as she enjoys her Mexico vacation. Her followers, including Hawkeye legend Caitlin Clark, gave her the thumbs-up for the confidence and good vibe she exuded.
The 6-foot forward shared a few photos of her enjoying some downtime on IG. She wore a floral swimwear in the photos that she captioned:
"Happy girl!"
Her followers shared their reactions to her photos, with former collegiate teammate and now WNBA star Clark giving a three-word reaction with:
"Work it jades"
Gyamfi is now in her third year in Iowa and currently averages 2.5 points in 5.3 minutes in four games so far for the Big Ten-leading Hawkeyes (6-0).
Caitlin Clark, meanwhile, is currently enjoying the WNBA offseason following a stellar first year in the league on her way to being named Rookie of the Year. She played in all 40 games of the Indiana Fever, posting all-around numbers of 19.2 points, 8.4 assists (league-high), 5.7 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 35.4 minutes per game.
She was also largely credited by many experts for bringing renewed interest in the WNBA, both from old and new fans.
Iowa moving on from Caitlin Clark era
Caitlin Clark left an immense legacy in Iowa Hawkeye basketball history, with some individual records which may never be replicated. But the team is moving on, determined to carve a new path to continued competitiveness.
Star forward Hannah Stuelke shared this during media day for the ongoing season, highlighting that while Clark and the rest of her batchmates set the bar high, they are willing to take on the challenge and make things happen.
She said (via Athlon Sports):
"It's obviously going to change. Caitlin's a crazy scorer. Kate [Martin] brought a lot too. I think Lucy [Olsen] brings just as much and she's an amazing basketball player. I think that we're gonna score in a different way maybe, but I think we're going to score just as much. So yeah, different but the same."
Caitlin Clark ended her Iowa basketball career recognized as one of the best collegiate players of all time. She is the all-time leading scorer in NCAA Division 1 history, men or women, with 3,951 points, breaking the longtime record held by basketball legend 'Pistol' Pete Maravich.
Meanwhile, Iowa is off to a solid start in the ongoing season, racing to a 6-0 record to lead the Big Ten. Olsen is leading the way with averages of 17.3 points, 5.3 assists and 4.5 rebounds. Backstopping her is Addison O'Grady with 15 points a game and Stuelke with 14.5 points and 7.5 rebounds.
