Rookie Caitlin Clark enjoyed another terrific offensive game in the Indiana Fever's 99-88 loss against the top-ranked Western Conference team Minnesota Lynx on Friday. Though Clark missed her first few shot attempts, her exceptional playmaking was evident from the start.
It didn't take long for the former Iowa standout to find her rhythm offensively, as she quickly racked up seven points in no time. From a smooth mid-range jumper to back-to-back three-pointers, she showcased her versatility in extending Indiana's lead.
Clark played the entire first quarter, tallying seven points on 2-of-6 shooting, including 1-of-4 from beyond the arc. She also converted both free throws and helped the Fever build a 27-19 lead by the end of the quarter. The rookie contributed on both ends, adding two rebounds and three assists in the opening period.
In the second quarter, Clark continued her strong play from the opening period, adding 10 more points to her tally. Her efforts helped the Fever take a 50-45 lead into halftime.
By halftime, the Fever rookie had tallied 17 points on 6-of-12 shooting, including 3-of-7 from 3-point range. She also made both of her free throw attempts. The former WNBA All-Star contributed four rebounds and four assists, though she also had three turnovers in the first half.

Clark struggled slightly in the third quarter, managing just 1-of-4 shooting from the field. The rookie added five points during the period, but the Fever saw their five-point lead slip away, trailing the Lynx by 12 points as they headed into the fourth quarter.
In the final quarter, the former Iowa standout managed just two points, as the Fever endured their second loss since the season resumed following the Olympic break.
Clark wrapped up the game with 25 points, shooting 8-of-21 from the field and 5-of-10 from beyond the arc. She was perfect from the free-throw line, converting all of her four attempts.
Along with her scoring, the former WNBA All-Star added eight rebounds and eight assists but committed seven turnovers in the game after playing 36:05 minutes. The rookie also recorded a blocked shot.

After the defeat, the Fever's record slipped to 18-17 on the season.
