Caitlin Clark will remain sidelined for the Indiana Fever’s blockbuster regular-season clash against Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky on Saturday. Clark has been out since suffering a left quad strain on May 25, initially ruled out for a two-week period. Although that timeline has passed, the Fever star has yet to fully recover.
As a result, the reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year will miss her fourth straight game due to the same injury. However, there is growing optimism that her return is on the horizon, with another evaluation scheduled over the weekend.
Speaking to the media recently, Clark expressed hope about making her comeback in the Fever’s upcoming matchup against the Atlanta Dream. Still, she stopped short of making any guarantees, noting that her return will depend on how her recovery progresses in the coming days.
"I'll miss this weekend's game, but after that, it's day-by-day, and see how I feel and just turn to the medical staff and what they think," Clark told reporters. "But I feel like I’ve made a lot of progress, and I feel good. I’m not going to rush back if it’s not worth it. But after this weekend I’ll be reevaluated and we’ll have a better idea of when I’m returning."
Caitlin Clark was in action when the Fever hosted the Sky in their season opener on May 17. The star rookie delivered a commanding performance, leading her team to a dominant 93-58 victory. Clark recorded an impressive triple-double, finishing with 20 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists, two steals and four blocks, shooting 6 of 13, including 4 of 8 from 3-point range.
