The Indiana Fever dominated the Chicago Sky in their second game of the ongoing WNBA season on Saturday. But even before the win was made official, the Fever's X admin was already rubbing it in on Angel Reese and the Sky.

Indiana played Chicago at United Center in front of 19,496 people in attendance and rolled to a commanding 79-52 victory. It took control right from the get-go and never allowed the opposition a way back into the contest.

The Fever led by 24 points, 60-34, late in the third quarter after DeWanna Bonner nailed a 3-pointer from the top of the key. The team's X (formerly Twitter) admin used it as an entry point to take to the home team.

The Fever continued to play without superstar guard Caitlin Clark, who remains out with a left quad strain. They, however, rode on a balanced attack the Sky had no answer to.

All-Star guard Kelsey Micthell led the way for Indiana with 17 points. Natasha Howard backstopped her with 13 points, while Aari McDonald came off the bench to add 12.

It was the second straight victory for Indiana (4-4) after dropping their three three games. The win was the second in as many games for the Fever this season over Chicago, who they beat 93-58 in their season-opener at home on May 17.

Meanwhile, with the defeat, the Reese and the Sky saw their two-game ascent halted, dropping to 2-5 on the season.

Fever dominate Sky even without coach Stephanie White

Indiana's victory over Chicago was made possible even without coach Stephanie White, who was out of the game due to personal reasons. In White's absence, assistant Austin Kelly stepped in for the Fever, but the team hardly skipped a bit in its thorough beating of hosts Chicago.

The visitors put up the numbers on their way to the convincing victory. They had 20 assists on 27 baskets and shot 45.8% from the field and 40.7% from 3-point territory. The Fever also had more rebounds, 32-30, and steals, 9-5.

The win was special for Kelly, who thanked the team for showing up the way it did in his pinch-hitting stint.

“It’s special. It’s something I’ll never forget. They did a hell of a job for 40 minutes of executing the game plan. And I thought when we had lulls, the communication out there was really good, they picked each other up when it was needed,” Kelly said following their victory.

Indiana next plays on Tuesday against the defending champions Liberty in New York. There's no word yet if White will be coaching by then.
