Minnesota Lynx star Courtney Williams had her "I told you so" moment after Caitlin Clark's return elevated the Indiana Fever against the New York Liberty on Saturday. Clark was out for the past two weeks with a quad strain, missing five games for Indiana. The team went 2-3 in her absence. The Fever's wins were neat with Clark ruled out, but the losses were embarrassing.

Before Saturday's contest, Indiana was coming off a 77-58 loss to the Atlanta Dream. On June 8, Williams shared her thoughts on the Fever without Clark, saying they need her to elevate the others before their game against the Chicago Sky.

“Caitlin Clark make them girls different," Williams said.

Williams said it on an online stream. Fans in the comments mocked her take, saying it wasn't the case. They were momentarily proven right as the Fever smoked the Sky 79-52 in Clark's absence. However, the reality set in after the loss to the Dream in the next game, in which Indiana tallied only 58 points.

After Caitlin Clark went off for 32 points, eight rebounds and nine assists on 55.0% shooting, including 7 of 14 3s in the 102-88 win against the New York Liberty, Williams got her lick back against trolls.

"I ain't gonna lie, Sabrina was cooking, but Caitlin was cooking, bro!" Williams said on stream. "Go look at her stat line, bro. Now, when I was in the chat and said Caitlin made them girls different, y'all was in the chat talking about ... They was in the chat hating."

Caitlin Clark emerged on top in her duel against Sabrina Ionescu, who had 34 points, two rebounds and four assists on 11 of 20 shots, including 4 of 10 from 3.

The Fever improved to 5-5 on the year, recording their most impressive win of the season against the unbeaten defending champions.

Caitlin Clark on her cinematic comeback

If you've followed the Indiana Fever over the past five games before Saturday's matchup, you would know how much Caitlin Clark wanted to be back on the floor. She was as engaged as anyone on the sidelines while nursing her quad injury, whether it was motivating her teammates or picking the coaching staff's brains.

Clark's explosive outing on Saturday was further testament to her desire to play again after the lengthiest injury break of her basketball career since college. After a dominant comeback, Clark seemed to be in great spirits despite a two-week hiatus.

"I feel good, I thought my rotations were good," Clark said. "Steph [White] got me a couple of breathers. But I felt strong, I felt good. I thought we played a good game, thought there was a lot we can still improve on, which is really positive for us."

Clark needed a breakout performance like this after starting the 2025 WNBA season in a slump. In her last two games before the injury, Clark shot 2 of 17 from 3-point range. In her first four games, she was 40.3% from the floor and 31.4% from 3, which is uncharacteristic.
