The twenty-third Royal Rumble match took place on January 31, 2010 at the Philips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. This match was a memorable one because of various reasons. Edge made a victorious return from a career threatening injury in this match. Besides, Beth Phoenix became only the second woman after Chyna to participate in a Royal Rumble match. She capped her achievement by eliminating The Great Khali from the match. It was also an emotional match for Shawn Michaels, who tried in vain to win this match, to face The Undertaker in a rematch at Wrestlemania 26.
