And your new Impact Wrestling Knockouts Champion is...

What's the story?

The latest episode of Impact Wrestling brought us all the action from Crossroads. One of the marquee matches at the event featured Laurel Van Ness against Allie for the Impact Wrestling Knockouts Championship.

Allie managed to win the match with a superkick and become the new Impact Wrestling Knockouts Champion. She was greeted in the back by her mentor Gail Kim, shortly after winning the highly prestigious title.

In case you didn't know...

Allie was known as Cherry Bomb in the independent circuit before she ever came to Impact Wrestling. In Impact Wrestling, she adopted a sweet, bubbly persona that many have compared to WWE superstar Bayley.

Allie is the ultimate babyface, and over the course of her time in Impact Wrestling, we've seen her grow into her character. She's also a very strong advocate for veganism, much like the Impact Wrestling World Champion, Austin Aries is.

The heart of the matter

Allie and Laurel Van Ness had a really hard fought match-up, that showcased how much the two Knockouts have grown as performers inside the squared circle. Allie won the match with a Death Valley Driver followed by a vicious superkick.

With the mass exodus of talent, both male and female, from Impact Wrestling in recent times it is clear that Allie will be the focal point of the division, going forward. Unfortunately, Laurel Van Ness is no longer with Impact Wrestling and one can only speculate with regard to her future.

What's next?

It remains to be seen what's next for Allie. Taya Valkyrie and Rosemary are having quite the feud of their own, without a championship at stake. It remains to be seen if new talent will come in to bolster the division.

Author's take

I couldn't be any happier for Allie, really. She has proved that she can hang with the best of them, and is perhaps the most genuine babyface in the industry not named Johnny Gargano right now.

Best of luck to Impact Wrestling and the Knockouts.
