WWE: The ‘Ultimate’ return on RAW?

Ultimate Warrior

Recently, I had written an article about the Ultimate Warrior, and how what was supposed to be one of the greatest names in professional wrestling fizzled out way too soon. The Ultimate Warrior was one of a kind, as he moved away from the clichéd stereotypes in the WWE.

After the Hogan era, Ultimate Warrior was supposed to lead the WWF into the next generation, but he had a falling out with the chairman of the WWF, Vince McMahon Jr., and was fired from the WWF. Although Warrior returned to the WWF on a couple of occasions, it was only done so that Vince could show Warrior that he was the one calling the shots, and fired Warrior again from the WWF.

The Ultimate Warrior was one of the very few performers to have gotten on the bad side of Vince McMahon, so much so that Vince didn’t want anything to do with him. After ’96, we never saw Warrior back in the WWF, not until now, that is. And if rumors are to be believed, we may see the all too familiar grunt of the Warrior soon. How soon? Try tonight’s episode of Monday Night RAW!

WWE recently launched its newest game, 2K14, with The Rock gracing its cover. How could WWE possibly top that? There are two superstars in the history of the WWF/E that Vince has refused to work with. One of the two was ‘The Macho Man’, Randy Savage. Sadly, WWE can never correct that mistake, as Savage passed away a couple of years ago.

The other superstar that Vince hasn’t buried the hatchet with, till now at least, was the Ultimate Warrior. With WWE coming out with the ‘Self destruction of the Ultimate Warrior’ DVD, it appeared as though Vince and WWE soured its relationship with the Warrior, until WWE released the news that WWE 2K14 pre-order bonus would include the character of the Ultimate Warrior!

With WWE working things out with Warrior, it isn’t unimaginable for Warrior to return to the WWE in some capacity, probably by signing a legend’s deal. With superstars such as Dave Batista crediting Warrior as their source of inspiration, the current crop of wrestlers would be delighted to see Warrior, someone they grew up watching and cheering, sharing the same locker room with them.

Back in the late 80s and early 90s, Warrior was the most over superstar in the WWF, and was given the baton from Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania 6 to be the new flag bearer of the WWF. With Vince and Warrior not seeing eye to eye, that didn’t go according to their plans. But with the WWE now coming out with a video of Warrior in the WWE headquarters, there is a possibility that we might see the Warrior on WWE programming to promote the video game.

Rumors are running rampant that we will see the Ultimate Warrior make his return to the WWE tonight on Monday Night RAW, after nearly 17 long years. Warrior was one of the most charismatic superstars in the WWF, and was the first person to do the ‘long run’ from the entrance, which has since been copied by numerous superstars in the WWE and in professional wrestling.

Vince is known to be a good businessman, as he puts his ego aside when it comes to making money. With Vince patching things up with Bruno Sammartino recently, there was only one other superstar that Vince hasn’t worked with, and that was the Ultimate Warrior. But now, it looks like even that will be corrected, and if Warrior does return to RAW tonight, the New York crowd will witness one of the greatest returns in the WWE, along the lines of Bret ‘The Hitman’ Hart!
