A new report has indicated that AEW recently broke a 12-year-old record set by WWE.

Last week's edition of Collision and Battle of the Belts X emanated from Truist Arena in Highland Heights, Kentucky, on April 13. Some of the top names in the promotion were in action at the event like "Timeless" Toni Storm, Bryan Danielson, Powerhouse Hobbs, Claudio Castagnoli, and many more.

Wrestling Observer has reported that the April 13 edition of Collision broke a 12-year-old attendance record set by WWE. The Saturday night program hosted 2,511 fans, making it the largest crowd at a pro wrestling event in Highland Heights.

The record was previously held by the Triple H-led company, as 2,000 spectators attended a World Wrestling Entertainment show in the same town in 2011. While 2500 fans may not seem like a large crowd for a pro wrestling event, it is certainly a promising figure for AEW considering the population of Highland Heights (6662, according to the 2020 census).

AEW Collision suffers ratings dip despite big debut

The latest episode of Collision featured the return of former WWE star Athena. She faced and defeated Red Velvet on the show to retain her ROH Women's World Championship.

The show also saw the debut of Azumi (aka AZM) of STARDOM. She took on Toni Storm in a losing effort in an AEW Women's World Championship Eliminator match.

Collision's match card was also filled with other intriguing matches. Despite this, the show saw a dip in viewership. According to Fast Nationals, the Saturday night program & Battle of the Belts X drew 442,000 and 160,000 viewers in the P2+ and 18-49 demographics, respectively.

The Jacksonville-based company has recently struggled with low attendance figures and TV ratings. All Elite Wrestling is currently focused on producing a successful pay-per-view on April 21, 2024, in the form of Dynasty.
