"Kyrie posted a link with zero comments" - MLB star rips into Nike over Ja Morant statement

MLB star and Chicago Bulls pitcher Marcus Stroman ripped Nike for their statement regarding Ja Morant's recent gun incident. Nike replaced Kyrie Irving with Morant following his own controversial actions involving the promotion of an antisemitic film.

The shoe company released the following statement on Memphis Grizzlies superstar Morant through Shams Charania of The Athletic:

"We appreciate Ja's accountability and that he is taking the time to get the help he needs. We support his prioritization of his well-being."

Stroman called out Nike for having double standards with Irving and Morant. He's also thankful that he's no longer associated with the company. While both issues involving Irving and Morant are bad, it's not quantifiable how bad they are.

Ja Morant under investigation by NBA and Colorado police

Ja Morant is suspended for at least two games for his actions during an Instagram live video that surfaced on social media. The Memphis Grizzlies are giving their superstar some time away from the team to help himself become better in dealing with stress.

However, it seems like Morant's suspension could get extended depending on the investigation being done by the NBA and the police in Colorado. As per the collective bargaining agreement between the league and the NBPA, players are not allowed to have any firearms or deadly weapons during the season in any NBA-related event or business.

Police have confirmed that Morant was partying in Glendale, Colorado, which was a five-minute drive from Denver. With the Grizzlies on a road trip to face the Nuggets, Morant could have traveled with the gun, which violates the CBA.

Meanwhile, the state of Colorado has a law that makes possession of a firearm is illegal if the person is under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance. Several reports have speculated that Morant is facing at least a 50-game suspension for his actions.

Kyrie Irving was a Nike athlete from 2011 until they cut him following his controversial tweet promoting an antisemitic film late last year. Irving had one of the most popular shoe brands under Nike, but it was too much for them to deal with the now-Dallas Mavericks star.

Irving has not signed a shoe deal with a different company since he was axed by Nike. However, he continues to wear his shoes made by Nike. He's just covering up the swoosh with tape and putting in clever messages.
