3 former MI players who have done well against them while playing for RR ft. Yuzvendra Chahal

Mumbai Indians (MI) will take on Rajasthan Royals (RR) for the second time in IPL 2024 later tonight. The two teams met at the Wankhede Stadium a few days ago, where the Royals tamed the Indians on their home turf.

Tonight's match will take place at Jaipur's Sawai Man Singh Stadium, a venue where Mumbai Indians have not won a match since 2012. MI have won the IPL trophy five times, but they have had a hard time playing against RR.

One of the main reasons why RR have achieved so much success against MI is that they have signed some of the former players of the Mumbai-based franchise. These players then ended up becoming the game-changers for Rajasthan against Mumbai. Here's a list of three such players.

#1 Yuzvendra Chahal took a 3-wicket haul for RR against MI in IPL 2024

The first name on the list is of RR's current leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal. The right-arm leggie started his IPL career for the Mumbai Indians in 2013. He played just one game for Mumbai and was released by the franchise ahead of the mega auction in 2014.

After a lengthy stint with Royal Challengers Bengaluru from 2014 to 2021, Chahal earned a deal from the Jaipur-based franchise at the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. Since then, Chahal has been the biggest match-winner with the ball for the Rajasthan Royals.

Talking about his performance against his former franchise Mumbai Indians, Chahal bowled an incredible spell of 3/11 when the two teams met at the Wankhede Stadium earlier this season. He dismissed Hardik Pandya, Tilak Varma and Gerald Coetzee to help Rajasthan defeat MI comfortably in front of their home fans.

#2 Trent Boult stunned Mumbai Indians earlier in IPL 2024

Another member of the current Rajasthan Royals squad to feature on the list is left-arm quick Trent Boult. The New Zealand-based speedster tormented the Mumbai Indians in the match played earlier this month.

He opened the bowling for Rajasthan and dismissed Rohit Sharma, Naman Dhir and Dewald Brevis before they could score even a single run. Boult ended with figures of 3/22 in four overs.

Like Yuzvendra Chahal, Boult was released by MI ahead of a mega auction year. He joined the Royals in 2022 and continues to be an integral part of the Jaipur-based franchise.

#3 Jos Buttler has an average of 62.25 against MI in IPL

England skipper Jos Buttler started his IPL journey at the Mumbai Indians in 2016. After representing MI for two seasons, Buttler found himself in the list of players to be sold at the IPL 2018 Mega Auction.

Rajasthan Royals snapped him up there, and he has been the team's most successful overseas performer since then. Buttler has batted nine times against Mumbai Indians and scored 498 runs at an unbelievable average of 62.25. He has recorded one century and four half-centuries in those nine knocks.

Buttler, Chahal and Boult will be a part of RR's playing squad against MI tonight as well. It will be interesting to see how the former Mumbai stars perform at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium tonight.
