3 massive records SRH's batting group has already broken in IPL 2024 

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have made the opposition bowling attacks look absolutely clueless in front of their brutal onslaught as they became the first franchise in IPL history to smash 250+ runs for the third time in the competition. What makes this record staggering is that SRH have achieved all those feats in 2024 itself.

After tormenting the Mumbai Indians and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru bowlers, it was time for the Delhi Capitals to face the brunt of another power-hitting masterclass from the SRH batters. The opening duo of Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma have blasted their way in the powerplay, laying the platform for the middle-order batters.

The fearless attitude of the openers has allowed the rest of the batting unit to play their natural game and even take some time in the middle overs if required. Despite slowing down a bit after the powerplay against the Delhi Capitals, SRH still managed to post a massive 266 on the board which eventually proved too much for the Capitals in their last outing.

SRH have already created several batting records in the IPL. Having said that, let us have a look at three batting records which the SRH batting group has already broken in IPL 2024:

#1 Highest team score in IPL history

Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma were instrumental behind SRH posting the highest-ever IPL score.

Before the start of the 17th season of the IPL, the highest team score was 262 which was scored by Royal Challengers Bengaluru (then Bangalore) around 11 years ago. However, SRH have already gone past that total thrice in this season so far. The quality of power-hitting has been quite incredible from the SRH batters.

They broke the record for the highest-ever IPL score when they smashed 277 against the Mumbai Indians. However, a few days later, they broke their own record by clobbering the RCB bowlers to post a gigantic 287 on the board. This is also the second-highest score in all T20s. Next they piled on misery on DC by putting up 266 on the board.

#2 Highest team score in the powerplay in IPL history

The Sunrisers broke the record for most runs in the powerplay when they smashed 125 runs against the Delhi Capitals in the first six overs on Saturday. It was one of the most clinical six-hitting displays from Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma as the ball kept sailing over the fence.

The duo was hardly bothered by the line or length of the delivery and kept plundering everything that came their way. Sixes galore rained as the DC bowlers were left scratching their heads with the onslaught which was on show. They smashed as many as 24 boundaries in the powerplay to take the score to 125.

The previous highest powerplay score in the IPL was 105/0 by the Kolkata Knight Riders against RCB back in 2017. SRH went onto reach the 100-run mark in just five overs, which is also the fastest team hundred in all T20s.

#3 Most sixes in a team innings in IPL history

The fearless attitude of the Sunrisers batting unit has been the major reason why they have managed to murder bowling attacks in the ongoing season. They haven't been bothered by the reputation of the bowler and have maximised the powerplay time and again.

It was in the match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru that SRH smashed the most number of sixes (22) in an IPL game, breaking the previous record held by RCB with 21 sixes. Hyderabad repeated the feat against the Delhi Capitals, smashing 22 sixes.
