Kohli will be hoping his team gives him enough reasons to celebrate today

The Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai is all in readiness to host the 14th match of the VIVO IPL 2016 between home side Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore. The start has not been perfect for either of the teams as they have just 1 win a piece. RCB did get off to a flyer by winning their first game comprehensively but struggled in their next game and ended up losing to a resurgent Delhi Daredevils team. Defending champions MI, on the other hand, have had a rough journey in the current IPL season as they have lost 3 out of their 4 matches to Rising Pune Supergiants, Gujarat Lions and Sunrisers Hyderabad respectively.

As expected, RCB's batting has fired once again in the latest season of the Indian Premier League. Skipper Virat Kohli has led the way with two magnificent half-centuries in both matches played by his team. AB de Villiers, too, has shown terrific form in both games whereas Sarfaraz Khan and Shane Watson played cameos in the first and second match respectively. The primary concern for RCB has been their bowling with Shane Watson being the only bright spot having picked up 4 wickets in 2 games. Most of the other bowlers have been inconsistent and have plundered plenty of runs. The pitch at the Wankhede Stadium has supported the bowlers more than some of the other venues and could be helpful for the struggling Bangalore bowlers.

Mumbai Indians have been very inconsistent across all departments in this year's IPL. They won the only match in the tournament against the Kolkata Knight Riders courtesy of a fine batting performance with skipper Rohit Sharma leading the way. In the other three games, MI have not even posted 150 on the board, their highest being 143 in the match against GL. There have been a few good knocks here and there, but none of the batsmen has come up with a game-changing performance. Meanwhile, the bowling has primarily been about Mitchell McCleanaghan, who has 6 wickets already this season. Tim Southee did well in their previous game picking up 3 wickets for 24 runs. The rest of the bowlers have not made much of an impact so far and will be looking to make amends in today's match against RCB.

Mumbai Indians squad:

Injury worries and lack of form are two major issues that have plagued the Mumbai Indians in the 2016 IPL so far. If losing strike bowler Lasith Malinga to an injury was not enough, they suffered another big blow as one of the team's regular openers, Lendl Simmons, was also ruled out. Star all-rounder Kieron Pollard is also woefully short of form and had to be dropped for the previous game. Guptill, who played against SRH, also did not make any impact as he was dismissed in the very first over.

Newbie Krunal Pandya has done a very decent job with the bat down the order and may be promoted if the situation demands. The pace bowlers have been quite good for MI and they are likely to stick with the trio of Bumrah, McCleanaghan and Southee. The batsmen are the ones who will have to come to the party if Mumbai want to get back to winning ways. MI may field the same team from the match against SRH and hope that they will turn it around against the Royal Challengers Bangalore side.

Royal Challengers Bangalore squad:

Unlike their opponents for today, RCB do not have much to worry about in terms of their batting as the likes of Kohli and de Villiers are in superb form. Although they will be missing out on the services of dashing opener Chris Gayle in this match and the next one, the batsmen will not feel the pressure too much. The bowling has not been great from RCB so far and we could see some changes in this regard. Kohli may be tempted to bring in Varun Aaron on a bouncier Wankhede pitch and also play paceman Adam Milne.

Shane Watson may be used as an opener in the absence of Gayle whereas Stuart Binny can be brought in to strengthen the lower middle-order a bit. There are also chances of Australian Travis Head making his first appearance in RCB colours if the management wants to bolster the batting. The Challengers will be wanting to strike the right combination in an attempt to get back on track after a loss in their last match.
