Punjab Kings (PBKS) face Mumbai Indians (MI) in match 33 of IPL 2024 at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur on Thursday, April 18.

Punjab Kings have lost their last two games by close margins. They went down to SunRisers Hyderabad by two runs before Rajasthan Royals beat them by three wickets in Mullanpur. Punjab skipper Shikhar Dhawan missed the last match due to injury and remains unavailable for the MI clash as well.

Mumbai Indians, meanwhile, went down to Chennai Super Kings by 20 runs in the much-hyped El Clasico encounter at the Wankhede. Batting first, CSK came up with an impressive performance to post 206-6. In their chase, Rohit Sharma scored a fine hundred, but Mumbai finished on 186-6.

Punjab Kings have won the toss and opted to bowl first. Captain Sam Curran said:

“It's been the trend so far in this ground. We're hoping to bowl well and put them under pressure.”

For PBKS, Dhawan remains unavailable. Rilee Rossouw comes in for Jonny Bairstow, while Atharva Taide drops out. MI, meanwhile, are going in with an unchanged XI.

According to Anjum Chopra, bowlers should feel pleased looking at the surface. The spinners have done well, but the seamers, the way they have hit the hard lengths in the last match, they have also done really well, Chopra added.
