Sreesanth: Controversy's child

S Sreesanth has been accused of spot fixing in the IPL and it is not the first time that the bowler has been involved in a controversy. Recently, the Rajasthan Royal’s player had a breakdown on twitter after the media called the incident a ‘Slap-gate’.

Lets take a look at some of his top controversies.

Andrew Symonds incident

In 2007, India toured Australia and Sreesanth was involved in a spat with Andrew Symonds. The pace bowler got Symonds’ wicket and then sledged him on his way back to the pavilion.

Harbhajan Singh incident

During the first season of the IPL, Sreesanth played for Kings XI Punjab. After a match against the Mumbai Indians, Harbhajan Singh slapped Sreesanth. The spinner was banned from the tournament and fined heavily after the incident.

Andre Nel incident

The South African cricketer was bowling to Sreesanth. Right before a delivery, Nel went up to Sreesanth and said some aggressive words. Sree replied by hitting Nel for a six and taunted Nel with a ridiculous dance celebration.

Clapping incident

Again playing for Kings XI, Sreesanth bowled 2 successive no-balls in an over and then conceded a four. He was so frustrated by his performance that he clapped sarcastically. Yuvraj Singh didn’t like this behaviour and gave Sreesanth some stick.

Slapgate incident

Sreesanth was unhappy about the media calling him a slapgate after the Gambhir-Kohli incident. He had a breakdown on twitter and accused the BCCI of hiding the real video of the slapping incident between him and Harbhajan Singh

Spot fixing incident

Sreesanth, Ankeet Chavan and Ajit Chandila of Rajasthan Royals have been arrested by the Delhi Police on suspicion of being involved in spot-fixing. BCCI has said that all players who found guilty will be banned for life.
