The F1 penalty points are going to be one of the hot topics for the next few races, primarily because the reigning champion is just one point away from getting banned for a race. The system was introduced in 2014, and since its inception, only one driver has been banned for a race.
That driver was Kevin Magnussen, and the Danish driver was banned from a race last season after he accrued 12 F1 penalty points within a 12-month period.
As is the evidence, the penalty points system is not something that has been overtly harsh until now, as only one driver has been banned from a race. With that being said, Max Verstappen is perilously close to becoming the second driver who faces this. As we get ready for the F1 Canadian GP, how does the rest of the grid stack up in terms of penalty points? Let's take a look.
